FROM THE MILL

Keep up to date with everything that's going on at Jordans Mill and never miss a thing.

Watergull Orchards!

They are another one of our local suppliers as their apples are grown and their juice is bottled on a farm in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. It is a family run business which has been operating for over 20 years.

The family are able to turn apples into bottled juice in under 36 hours. It is a simple process where apples are hand selected, washed, crushed, pressed, pasteurised and bottled.

The origins of Mothering Sunday and Mother’s Day

We all know that the modern Mothering Sunday is the celebration of the maternal characters in our lives such as mums, step-mums and grandmothers. We often shower them with gifts and special days out, but the holiday was not always celebrated in this way. Treat your mum to a day at Jordans Mill! Coffee Chat with Claire

We sat down with our Front of House Assistant, Claire Culleton. Over a good old-fashioned cup of tea we found out more about her life.

Tell us a bit more about yourself and your interests?
I used to be cabin crew for Ryanair from 1999 to 2016. I flew quite a few famous people like Prince Harry, Mr Motivator, Chris Akabusi, Ken Doherty and the boxer, Steve Collins. When I was younger I was in the Girl’s Brigade and I used to play the Snare Drum. I was also a member of the Modernian’s Swimming Club.

The lives of the living Jordans.

William Jordan 6th (Bill)

The most recent business at Holme Mills was run by William Jordan 6th (Bill) and his brother David. Bill served his milling apprenticeship at Henry Simon Ltd and also spent time travelling. He played drums for a French rock band and then travelled to America where he discovered the phenomenon of granola. He brought this knowledge back to the UK and joined forces with his brother, creating the famous cereal brand, Jordans.

It’s Real Bread Week at Jordans Mill!

Jordans Mill are joining in with the international campaign which celebrates Real Bread by encouraging people to start making their own bread at home. We will be hosting a ‘Best Home Loaf’ competition on our social media platforms and one lucky winner will receive a baking hamper.

Real Bread Week runs from the 23rd February to the 3rd March and is an annual celebration of additive-free breadmaking.
