Kids will love exploring our Mill Garden and Meadow! Our resident Kingfisher, Whizzer will guide you around our Garden and Meadow, challenging you to different tasks and explaining fun facts along the way.
This Valentine’s Day, we want to delve into the family life of the Jordans and focus our attention on the women behind the Williams. We will uncover the love story of each William within the family, from William 1st to William 5th and explain how Valentine’s Day would have been celebrated during their time.
Jordans Mill works with lots of fantastic suppliers. We think it’s important for local businesses to support one another and our Riverside Café prides itself on fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
So, here’s a bit of information about where our eggs come from:
If you’ve had a breakfast at our Riverside Café lately then you’ve been enjoying Free Range eggs sourced from the Waresley based Wood Farm. The farm is a family-run business and all their eggs are packed on site, allowing them to keep their carbon footprint low. The family are dedicated to providing a happy and healthy life for their hens and they have acres of tree sheltered paddocks in which their chickens can roam. Their eggs are also Freedom Food and Lion Code Approved, so their quality is assured!
We have recently upgraded the Mill’s power system. As some of you may know, Holme Mills has been powered by a Victorian water turbine since its waterwheel was destroyed in the fire of 1899. The turbine was state-of-the-art during this time and is representative of the technological advances of the Industrial Revolution.
