Gift Aid Explained
Under the Gift Aid scheme amendments introduced by the Government in April 2006, charities who offer entrance to an attraction based on Gift Aid donation rather than an admission ticket must ask visitors to pay 10% extra than the normal admission fee. It is your choice whether you wish to Gift Aid or not. If you do decide to Gift Aid your admission we can claim back from the Government 25% of the total amount that you pay, this equates to the Income Tax that you have already paid on this money. This is why you can only participate in the Gift Aid Scheme if you are a UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax Payer and you confirm that you have paid or will pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for the current year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) you donate to will reclaim for the current tax year. Council Tax and VAT do not qualify for the scheme.
Is Jordans Mill suitable for wheelchair users?
Yes. Jordans Mill is fully wheelchair-accessible, with disabled parking and accessible toilets, and a lift providing access to all three floors of the mill. Wide paths provide access to the Mill Gardens. Please note that some of the smaller paths in the gardens have uneven surfaces and therefore may not be suitable. You can read our full access statement here.
I have special dietary requirements. Can you help?
Absolutely. Because all of our food is made fresh to order we can adapt most dishes to suit visitors with special dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances. We always offer a range of vegetarian options. Just let a member of staff know when you arrive.
Can I bring my dog to Jordans Mill?
Jordans Mill is owned and managed by dog lovers. Unfortunately, access to the terrace and gardens is currently through the Riverside Café, which has an open kitchen and therefore for reasons of hygiene we can’t allow dogs in the Mill Gardens.
We currently have a table and chairs at the front of our building where visitors are welcome to sit with their dogs.
What discounts do you offer?
At Jordans Mill we have huge respect for members of the armed forces, who risk their lives, spend time away from their loved ones and devote huge amounts of time and effort to serving their country.
We therefore offer a 10% discount in the Riverside Café to anyone who produces a valid armed forces ID or veterans badge. The discount is available on all food, hot drinks, cold drinks and alcohol, and is a small way for us to show our respect and gratitude.
We also run a number of promotions and special offers, click here for more details.
Are gift vouchers available?
Yes, gift vouchers can be purchased in the Mill Store and are available in denominations of £5, £10 and £20.
Where can I smoke at Jordans Mill?
The entire Jordans Mill site is a no smoking area, with the exception of the outside area to the front of the building where there is a table and chairs.
Although the Riverside Café terrace and the Mill Gardens are outside areas, we made this decision following feedback from a number of customers. We welcome all customers and want to ensure everyone, smokers and non smokers, can enjoy our beautiful site.
Is Jordans Mill a family-friendly destination?
Very much so! Children love exploring our Mill, gardens, meadow and woodland - there is so much for them to do. The Riverside Café is very family friendly with children’s meals and snacks and a small selection of colouring and toys. Visit our Family Fun page to learn more and keep an eye on our News and Events pages for details on one off events and competitions.
Does Jordans Mill have a statement on The Modern Slavery Act?
